''In His Fathers Footsteps'' completed

After 65 hours I'm calling this finished, that's not to say I might not tweek it when I look at again, I have reduced the grass and rocks down even more, to stop them distracting the eye, and have lightly drawn in the sky again only enough to complete the drawing and not enough to dominate over the Lions. The finished image is 13x21 inches drawn on mellotex off white paper, let me know what you think.
I have had another look at this piece and I decided to add the foot prints, let me know if you think it was the right thing to do!

Well done, Grahame! It has such a vast and open feel to it, as if the land and sky go on forever.

Thank you Kathleen, I think that by not over doing the background etc it makes you focus more on the main subjects (pun intended)lol

Grahame, Beautiful job. Nice narrative and technique. Not sure the amount of effort that goes into such a large drawing can be appreciated unless one tries it. Even more impressive knowing you have osteoarthritis. Any plans for this drawing? Best regards.

Hi Candace Thank you for your comments, I think your right you have to have been there to understand what goes into some drawing, I have entered this drawing into an exhibition being held in mid September along with 4 others, one Im still working on and hope to post WIP tomorrow, until now I have never framed any of my drawing and have non hanging on my walls, that may have to change as I have no where to store framed drawings the rest are all in my folders.

Grahame, Amazing how a frame can finish off a nice drawing. I've framed 6 of my graphite drawings and plan to hang them together on a display wall in my studio. I think the weight of all that work shown together will be greater than the sum of the parts. I'll post an image once I get motivated enough to hang them all. Love your work and the passion you have for it. Your making me want to do another graphite drawing. Best regards. C

Your right Candace, I have had 4 framed, and dropped them off at the Nottingham Society of Artist to see if I can me excepted as an effiliated member, should know by the 8th Sept, I would love to see more of your work, because of your work, I have purchased a few art books on portrait drawing and life drawing.
