Sophie



Another update on Sophie the Poodle, still more work on the eyes ears and body until this one is completed, and then onto her sister who will sit next to her on the drawing.

This is masterful Grahame! The fur detail is amazing right down to the wet looking hair ends on the ears!! Hoe long does a portrait like this take you?

Thanks Sally, now that Im working full time, so cant just sit at my drawing board all day I forget to time how much work I'm putting in, but I would guess around 25 hours on this head study, and at least 5 of that was on the eyes...

I remember thinking that graphite drawings should be quicker than pastel becuase they are monotone!! I vey quickly found out that there is just as much work in a graphite as there is in a pastel maybe more!! It takes me about 21 to 30 hours to do a head and shoulders pastel!
